Vermont's Winter Wonderland

Featuring a horse-drawn sleigh ride & dog sledding adventure

1   SHENANDOAH VALLEY | HARRISBURG:

Today our Winter Wonderland tour begins as we travel through Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley. We cross the Mason-Dixon Line into Pennsylvania for our first overnight stay in Harrisburg.

2   BERKSHIRE MOUNTAINS | NORMAN ROCKWELL MUSEUM | BENNINGTON STATION | VERMONT:

Our travels take us into the beautiful Berkshire Mountains of Massachusetts to the charming little town of Stockbridge. Here we visit the Norman Rockwell Museum. The museum houses the world’s largest and most significant collection of Rockwell’s work, including 574 original paintings and drawings. Rockwell lived in Stockbridge the last 25 years of his life. We arrive in the heart of the Green Mountains in Bennington, Vermont. Here we enjoy traditional American cuisine in the ambience of a historic railroad station, Bennington Station Restaurant. We overnight in the area.

3   BENNINGTON MUSEUM | GRANDMA MOSES SCHOOL HOUSE | OLD FIRST CHURCH | ROBERT FROST GRAVESITE | HORSE DRAWN SLEIGH RIDE:

In Bennington we visit the famous Bennington Museum. This is one of the country’s finest regional museums, featuring a large collection of old Bennington Pottery, rare American blown and pressed glass, the oldest Stars and Stripes in existence, rare documents, costumes, uniforms, and furnishings. On this property is the Grandma Moses Schoolhouse, which includes much of her home furnishings, paintings and other memorabilia. Bennington’s Old First Church is a great photo stop. We take a short tour of the church, then step out to the old cemetery where we’ll see poet Robert Frost’s grave. Continuing to Wilmington, Vermont, we visit Adam’s Family Farm where we’ll enjoy a wonderful horse drawn sleigh ride, along with hot chocolate at the cabin in the woods. From here we make our way to Rutland where we overnight the next two nights. A delicious dinner is included this evening.

We’ll have lunch on our own before an afternoon of fun on our Siberian Dog Sled Adventure. We’ll enjoy the peace of Vermont’s Winter Wonderland while experiencing an age old form of transportation. Rob Farley and his team of Siberian Huskies share their love of dog sledding with us. During our adventure, we’ll learn the history of the sport with a wonderful power point presentation, have the chance to ride with the team and even make some new four footed friends. Another dinner is served at the hotel.

5   GREEN MOUNTAIN SUGAR HOUSE | GRAFTON VILLAGE CHEESE COMPANY | MARK TWAIN HOUSE & MUSEUM:

After breakfast, we board our motorcoach for the Green Mountain Sugar House. During our visit we learn about the production of Vermont’s delicious maple syrup. Next we visit the Grafton Village Cheese Company in Brattleboro. Grafton is a producer of some of the finest Vermont Cheddar Cheeses. We’ll enjoy a tour and tasting of their products.
