Day 1
PROVIDENCE • NEWPORT • THE
BREAKERS • DINNER:
History,
beauty, excitement – it's all ahead of
us as our Christian Tours motorcoach
transports us to the Charlotte airport
for our flight to Providence. Upon
arrival in Providence, we will be met
by a Christian Tours motorcoach and
driver, then we're off to the classy city
of Newport. We'll tour The Breakers,
a 70-room mansion built by Cornelius
Vanderbilt and acknowledged as the
most elaborate of all the Newport
summer homes. Having had a taste
of the 'good life', we head for our
overnight accommodations on beautiful
Cape Cod for a three-night stay. (D)Day 2
FERRY TO MARTHA'S VINEYARD •
DINNER:
This morning we are in
for a delightful experience as we cross
Nantucket Sound by ferry to Martha's
Vineyard. The Vineyard is said to have
been named by the English gentleman
Bartholomew Gosnold for his daughter
Martha. Because of the wild grapes he
found growing here, he dubbed this
vacation island a “vineyard.” The island,
only some 25 miles long, is the site of
several popular summer resort towns
like Oak Bluffs, Menemsha, Edgartown,
and Vineyard Haven. Although they are
only a few miles apart, each little village
and town has its own personality. Back
on the mainland we'll have dinner at
one of the fine local restaurants. (D)Day 3
CAPE COD GUIDED TOUR •
PROVINCETOWN • WHALE
WATCHING CRUISE • DINNER:
A local
guide joins us this morning for a guided
tour of Cape Cod, an area with a long
neck situated between Cape Cod Bay
and Nantucket Sound. Nowhere, it
seems, has time passed more slowly
than here in Cape Cod, with sunny
beaches, marshlands, dunes, rugged
coasts and quaint fishing villages. It
was here that prosperous sea captains
once built lavish homes and furnished
them with priceless articles acquired
on their many voyages abroad. We'll
follow the winding road up through
the picturesque communities to
Provincetown. A truly fascinating
experience awaits us this afternoon
as we take an expedition off the coast
for a Whale Watching Cruise. Aweinspiring
as well as educational, our
ship's crew will provide information
on whale behavior, identification, and
answer any questions you can come
up with. As the great humpbacks glide
up beside us, you're sure to agree
that whale watching is “witnessing the
miraculous!” Now, what better way
to end a day in Cape Cod than with a
delicious dinner. (D)Day 4
PLYMOUTH ROCK • MAYFLOWER
II • PLIMOTH PATUXET • LUNCH
• JOHN F. KENNEDY LIBRARY:
This
morning we travel up the mainland
of Massachusetts and visit Plymouth
Rock, a granite boulder near the sea
at Plymouth, Massachusetts. The
date 1620 is carved on this rock.
According to legend, this is the spot
where the Mayflower pilgrims stepped
ashore when they landed in the New
World. The Mayflower II returned
to Plymouth after a 3-year multimillion
dollar restoration in 2020 and
was the centerpiece of the 400th
commemoration of the Pilgrims' arrival.
We tour this full scale reproduction.
Next we travel to Plimoth Patuxet,
a re-creation of the Pilgrims' 1627
settlement. Plimoth Patuxet is an
outdoor museum of the 17th century
Atlantic village, featuring life as it was
then, portrayed by “villagers” in their
native setting. We've stepped back 350
years in time, so don't be surprised at
who you might bump into! We enjoy
lunch today at Plimoth Patuxet. This
afternoon we tour the museum at
the John F. Kennedy Library, which is
considered by many to be the most
beautiful work of recent architecture
in the country. We tour the library
and relive the powerful story of the
Kennedy years. Get a first hand
experience as you enter the re-created
world of Kennedy's life, legacy and
leadership. We check into our hotel for
a two night stay. (L)Day 5
EXPERIENCE BOSTON • BOSTON
CITY TOUR • DINNER:
Today you'll
experience the best of old and new
Boston. We meet a step-on guide for
an informative city tour of Boston,
including the Old North Church,
Boston Common, Beacon Hill and
dozens of other important sites. We
stop at Faneuil Hall and have time
for shopping and a meal at Quincy's
Marketplace. Then we journey into the
historic countryside towns of Lexington
and Concord. We follow Paul Reveres'
route and see the “Battle Trail.” We
pass the homes of Hawthorne, Alcott
and Emerson. Dinner is included at a
popular area restaurant this evening. (D)Day 6
PROVIDENCE • FLIGHT HOME:
This
morning we are transported to
the Providence airport for our return
flight home, but we'll never forget the
beauty and wonder of Cape Cod &
New England.
