This morning we journey to the east
coast’s fantasy islands, the Golden Isles
of Georgia. This afternoon we arrive
in Jekyll Island. We check into our
home away from home, located within
walking distance of the seashore, for a
three night stay. This evening we enjoy
dinner together at a popular island
restaurant. (D)
Day 2
HOFWYL PLANTATION • JEKYLL
ISLAND TOUR • MILLIONAIRES’
VILLAGE • DINNER:
Today we tour
Hofwyl Plantation with its sweeping
views of the Altamaha Delta. After
lunch we tour Jekyll Island with ten miles
of sparkling beaches and oak-graced
beauty. We visit the famous Millionaires’
Village, playground for America’s
industrial elite from the 1880’s until
World War II. Tour the opulent former
homes of the Rockefellers, Morgans and
Goulds. We enjoy a delightful dinner
together this evening. (D)
Day 3
ST. SIMONS ISLAND TOUR •
PLANTATIONS • VILLAGE SHOPS •
DINNER:
This morning we depart on a
tour of St. Simons Island. Five flags
have flown over St. Simons: Spanish,
French, British, United States and
Confederate States of America, and
elements of each culture remain. See
and learn about the plantations that
flourished here from 1800 until the
Civil War. We visit the colonial town
of Fort Frederica, one of the largest
and most expensive forts ever built
by the British in North America. This
afternoon you have time to wander
through the village streets and shop
in the quaint stores. Tonight we
enjoy dinner together at a local
restaurant. (D)
Day 4
HILTON HEAD ISLAND DOLPHIN
CRUISE • SAVANNAH • DINNER:
Today we travel to beautiful Hilton
Head Island Harbor where we take
a narrated sightseeing and dolphin
cruise. We hope to catch a glimpse
of bottle-nosed dolphins along the
coastline, spectacular homes and
yachts. Following the cruise, we travel
to historic Savannah where we have
time to explore the historic area
and have an included dinner at
one of the city’s well-known
restaurants. (D)
Day 5
SAVANNAH TROLLEY TOUR •
HOME:
This morning we take an
informative Trolley tour of Savannah,
seeing the major attractions such as
the Juliette Gordon Lowe House, the
Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, the
Cotton Exchange and the historic
Riverfront. We leave the Golden Isles
behind and travel home arriving late
this afternoon.
