Day 1

DEPART THE USA:

Today, we transfer to Charlotte Airport for our overnight flight, filled with excitement as we begin our magical journey through Scenic Scandinavia & Its Fjords—a land where fairy-tale cities meet breathtaking natural wonders. Over the next 14 days, we’ll discover the charm of Denmark, Norway, and Sweden as we explore vibrant capitals, embrace local traditions, and marvel at majestic fjords, soaring mountains, and sparkling waterways. Together, we’ll experience the beauty, culture, and stories that make Scandinavia truly unforgettable.
Day 2

COPENHAGEN, DENMARK:

We arrive in Copenhagen, the enchanting Danish capital that inspired Hans Christian Andersen’s timeless tales of mermaids, queens, and ugly ducklings. Together, we discover the cozy charm of hygge woven throughout its streets before joining our local guide for a fascinating sightseeing tour. We admire the elegant 18th-century facades of Amalienborg Palace Quarter and the equestrian statue of King Frederik V, then continue to Christiansborg Palace and the Neoclassical Cathedral. We pause to honor the city’s most famous icon, the Little Mermaid, and stroll along Nyhavn’s colorful harbor front, embracing the fairy-tale spirit of the city, before unwinding with a delightful light dinner to conclude a day of exploration. Day 3

COPENHAGEN:

This morning, we explore the Danish Riviera’s heritage route with our local guide, wandering through quaint fishing villages and lively marinas for a glimpse of coastal life in Scandinavia. We then continue to Frederiksborg Castle, a stunning 17th-century royal residence. The remainder of the day, we enjoy the freedom to explore Copenhagen at leisure, whether taking in its elegant streets or delighting in the wonders of Tivoli Gardens. (B)
Day 4

FUNEN • ODENSE • JUTLAND PENINSULA • RANDERS:

We leave Copenhagen for the Danish island of Funen and the enchanting city of Odense, birthplace of Hans Christian Andersen. This afternoon we continue across the pastoral landscapes of the Jutland Peninsula, arriving in Randers, where half-timbered merchant houses and narrow medieval streets exude old-world charm. Tonight, we check-in at the historic Hotel Randers, one of the oldest in the region, dating back to 1856. Rich in character and adorned with original artwork, the hotel has welcomed many distinguished guests throughout its storied past. (B)
Day 5

HIRTSHALS • PORT OF KRISTIANSAND (NORWAY) • STAVANGER:

We leave Denmark behind and sail by ferry from Hirtshals across the Skagerrak Strait to Kristiansand, then venture north through Norway’s fjords, lakes, and forests to Stavanger, where history comes alive in charming 18th-century wooden buildings. (B, D)
Day 6

BERGEN:

We sail from Stavanger to Bergen, soaking in Norway’s dramatic coastal landscapes along the way. In Bergen, we join the Discover the Vikings tour, stepping into history at Hafrsfjord where Iron Age houses have been reconstructed on their original site. After sampling Viking-inspired snacks, we visit the striking Sverd I Fjell monument, where three towering swords honor the 9th-century unification of Norway. This evening, we enjoy dinner with locals at Øvre-Eide Farm, a family-run farm that has welcomed guests for five generations. (B, D)
Day 7

BERGEN:

After breakfast, we uncover the story of Telavåg, the lost village destroyed in World War II for its role in the Norwegian resistance, before savoring local svele. Returning to Bergen, we ascend by funicular for breathtaking views of the city from its hillside vantage point. We then enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure to explore Bergen at our own pace, wandering charming streets or soaking in the city’s wooden harbor charm. (B)
Day 8

VOSS • FLAM RAILWAY • KJOSFOSSEN FALLS • FLAM • SOGNEFJORD:

We drive east to the ski resort of Voss and board a train climbing over 2,800 feet (860 m) above sea level. On this exhilarating journey through the Flam Valley, we pass thundering Kjosfossen Falls and the legendary forest spirit said to dance in the mountains, marveling at Norway’s dramatic mountains, waterfalls, and countryside before arriving in the charming village of Flam. We overnight in Sognefjord, Norway’s longest and deepest fjord, surrounded by breathtaking scenery. (B, D)
Day 9

GEIRANGERFJORD:

We travel along the immense Nordfjord, surrounded by carved glacier landscapes, deep blue waters, and snow-capped peaks, arriving in Geirangerfjord, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its dramatic cliffs, cascading waterfalls, and idyllic farms clinging to the mountainsides. Upon arrival, we set out early to visit a traditional working farm amid the stunning scenery of the Sognefjord, Norway’s longest and deepest fjord. We meet a Scandinavian family, discover their daily life and centuries-old traditions, and sample delicious homemade local specialties. (B, D)
Day 10

GEIRANGERFJORD:

We spend a full day immersed in the spectacular beauty of Geirangerfjord, where cascading waterfalls tumble down sheer cliffs into glacial waters and dramatic peaks surround us. You may choose to explore the fjord by kayak or boat, breathing in the crisp, clean mountain air and soaking up the serene natural surroundings. For those seeking extra adventure, join the optional Trollstigen excursion (additional cost), traveling along one of Norway’s most famous mountain roads past steep slopes, tumbling cascades, and fertile valleys—a masterpiece of Norwegian engineering and rugged scenery at its finest. After a day surrounded by intoxicating landscapes, we return to our hotel for a relaxing dinner. (B, D)
Day 11

LOM • GUDBRANDSDALEN • LILLEHAMMER:

We drive from Geiranger past soaring peaks to Lom, where we visit a 12th-century stave church adorned with Runic inscriptions, paintings, and carved dragon figures. We continue through the legendary Gudbrandsdalen—the valley that inspired Ibsen’s Peer Gynt—before arriving in Lillehammer, host of the 1994 Winter Olympic for overnight. This evening, we stroll the charming street of Storgata before enjoying included dinner. (B, D)
Day 12

OSLO:

We travel past the unusual Hamar Olympic Hall—nicknamed “Vikingskipet” (The Viking Ship) for its striking ship-like architecture and lakeside setting—en route to Norway’s vibrant capital, Oslo. Upon arrival, we meet our local guide to tour Akershus Castle, Oslo Harbor, and the 19thcentury Royal Palace, then admire the remarkable sculptures at Vigeland Park. This afternoon, we embark on a Norwegian maritime adventure with our local guide. We explore the legendary Fram, the 19th-century polar ship that sailed to both the Antarctic and Arctic, and learn how Amundsen raised Norway’s flag at the South Pole. Our journey continues at the iconic Kon-Tiki raft, famed for Thor Heyerdahl’s daring Pacific crossing, letting us experience the spirit of adventure firsthand. (B)
Day 13

STOCKHOLM:

We cross the border into Sweden, traveling along the scenic shores of Lake Vänern, the largest lake in the European Union, before arriving in the island-ringed capital of Stockholm for a two-night stay. This evening, we experience the charm of Gamla Stan, the fairy-tale old town where little has changed since the 16th and 17th centuries, and then savor delicious Swedish cuisine at a popular local restaurant. Day 14

STOCKHOLM • DROTTNINGHOLM PALACE:

We start the day with our local guide on a panoramic tour of Stockholm, seeing the Waterside City Hall, Storkyrkan, Riddarholm Church, and the Royal Palace. Next, we enjoy a leisurely drive to the UNESCO World Heritage–listed Drottningholm Palace, sampling traditional Swedish cinnamon buns and coffee before exploring its magnificent gardens with our local guide. We return to Stockholm on the Stockholms tunnelbana, the city’s subway celebrated as the world’s longest art exhibit, and marvel at its extraordinary works of art. This evening, we join fellow travelers for an included dinner, celebrating the memories, discoveries, and unforgettable moments of our Scandinavian journey. (B, D)
Day 15

FLIGHT HOME:

On our final morning, we look back on two remarkable weeks filled with majestic fjords, lively cities, and lasting memories. As we transfer to the airport, we carry with us the experiences and connections that made this journey extraordinary. While the tour concludes, the spirit of Scandinavia will remain with us long after our return home. (B)
